Guest guest
As I understand ArdhoMS, the elbows should actually be facing *upwards* as much as possible, while the shoulders are rolling downwards as you widen and open the fronts of the armpits.

One way I was taught that helped me with understanding elbow position is this posture might also be helpful to you.

Raise both of your arms in front of you, palms upward, arms about 3/4 extended. Now, keep your elbows where they are, but turn your palms *downward.*

Now extend your arms fully, or as much as possible with your elbows in the same position. This is the approximate correct position of the elbows.

Hope this was helpful.
