Guest guest
G'day from Hamilton in New Zealand!

I go to a group of fellow unqualified astanga yogis twice weekly. We all do qualified Iyengar once a week, too. It's only a small city, so we get by from one anothers' learning. 'Nuff respect to Godfrey Devereaux's informative, lucid books, and Lino Miele's is invaluable for our more advanced practice. Anyhow, if anyone wishes to impart their knowledge to us, and is passing through, be sure to contact me at
adampope and we can arrange a rendezvous.

I do have a number of conundrums:

1) For up to 5 days after practice, my muscles (in particular my quadriceps and hamstrings) are kinda sore. I would find it virtually impossible to practice more than two to three times a week because of this. Perhaps it's because I push myself too hard? Should I try less? I've been doing practice for a year now, couldn't touch my toes to begin with, but can do all four paschimottanasana's now, so it can't be too bad. I'm just slightly flabbergasted when I read about people doing their practice 5 or 6 times a week.
Anyone care to enlighten me?

2) I was adjusted into bound Marichyasana D last week in Sydney, which felt great, but now my ankles feel like they're twisted in some angles. Is this similar to PKJ's standing on someones legs in Baddha Konansana and saying "In future, no problem in pose, but problem walking for awhile"? Should I hold off on this asana until my ankles are better? Or feel the pain and muck on through?

I'm impressed with the quality of the group discussions, and look forward to a continuing repartee!

Toodles. Guest guest
About the sorness thing, as funny as it may sound to you now, the more regularly you practice the less sore you'll be. I find if i'm practicing 4-5 times a week sorness is much less that if only twice a week. And most people i've talked to seem to share this opinion. Have you seen Lino's new video? Very inspirational, the only one i've seen with full Vinyasa.

Guest guest
Woops, pressed the wrong button
OK its Astanga Yoga
Primary Series
Full Vinyasa
with Lino Miele

I got it at the Astanga Yoga School in Helsinki (www.astanga.fi) I suppose you can try to get it direct from Lino in Italy, find his address at the above URL. The video complemets the 3rd edition of his book Astanga Yoga and puts great emphisis on the breath, bandahs, and drishtis.

Full Vinyasa is where one returns begins and ends each asana with samasthitih.
