When I first started going to ashtanga

classes,
I asked my teacher how often I should

practice.
(At that time he just had one class a week, now
he

has four). He said every day (not

counting
Saturdays which are traditionally skipped).
He told me

that if I started to practice every
day that the

soreness would go away in a week or two. It does seem like

the more I practice,
the less problem there is

with soreness, but I
do still get sore. I have

often come across the
concept in the bodybuilding

world that the best
way to get rid of soreness is to

repeat the
previous days workout. This is still kind

of a mysterious subject, but it does seem like

it
is best to practice everyday, and this probably
keeps the soreness down. Of course you have to
be

careful not to overdo things, but you may find
that

although you feel too sore to do yoga,
you can still do

it and it may "work through"
some of the

soreness. I think the body has some kind of a reaction

against stretching and you have to kind of keep telling

it that you really mean to
stretch these muscles

instead of letting them go
back to where they are used

to being. If you are
sore, then you are probably

practicing well. But
I wouldn't keep from doing yoga due

to soreness.
