Very nice, practicing at 2:30 a.m. With a cup of

coffee it will going very well... But, seriously, at

what time Sarath is going to bed? At 6:00 p.m.? He

does not look TV, does he?
It's interesting (for

me, may be for others too) how some people suceed in

practicing early in the morning (5:00 a.m. is very early!).

I guess, they do it simply, but its not so simply

it lookes like. They must have a great discipline in

their life. - Any other suggestions?
The other

thing is, you get tired without sleep (I suppose).
-

Is there anybody who wants to get up with me at

5:30? Who wants to try? Who wants to "die"? Lu

It seems, that most of us encounter the same

problems.
I'm trying to find a schedule for some kind of daily

practice (5 days a week).
I go to work at 8:00 am and

come back between 6:30 and 7:00 pm. After eating,

playing with my children, talking with my wife, ... i

usually am much too tired to practice. So I decided to

get up early before my kids wake up (about 6:30

am).

Now I try to get up at 5 and practice from 5:30 to

7:30. Often I can't do the whole primary serie in this

time.
When I go to bed after 10:30 I often have problems to

get up so early.

I'm still "living" but I too

am very interested in any advice or hint concerning

the "sleep-problem".

Hi, folks.

I'm gonna respond to the time

of practice issue, but first I want to say how much

I have appreciated the recent series of posts (yes,

a bit even from Senor, too!). Remarks on laughter,

transcending duality of breath, legs much prettier than

Eddie's, becoming "all bandha", trying to figure from

slow-motion video how it's done -- all of this warms my heart

and deepens my devotion to the wonderful Practice we

share. Thanks to all.

On the sleep and practice

issue. I have always thought mornings were great in

theory. If I can wake up before kids, I get the Practice

done first thing and am not obsessing about how to

work it in later, thereby annoying my loving spouse

(not yet a convert to yoga) with scheduling

consideraions. Also, the lessened flexibility in the mornings

helps one to work on detachment.

Late afternoon,

however, has a lot going for it if you can find a place to

practice (I have a mat ni my office and a fairly flexible

schedule). The big advantage for the family man/woman is

that you feel so fantastic after the practice you go

home to your children in a great frame of mind, and

this is important as early evening is the crankiest

time of day for most kids -- the time when they need

our love attention and patience the most.

I

find evenings the time of greatest flexibility, so

it's nice to practice then, especially if you are

starting to work on a challenging asana. The drawback for

me is that I'm usually so charged up after practice

that I have trouble getting to sleep at a decent

hour.

I am curious as to your identity, Takeitup-2000.

Someone should write the history of Ashtanga in this

century and tell the stories of your group of

seven.

Peace and Good,
Homer

I'll try 5:30 am, Lu! I have two children who

love to jump on me during my practice, so I suppose

this is my only chance for some peace. I'm also

thinking that in order to "wake up" at 5:30 am, I may have

to limit my time on the computer (I have this habit

of surfing after everyone in the house goes to

bed).

<sigh> This should be interesting. :o)

Celeste
