I have been pracitcing Ashtanga for almost 2

years and have worked through many old injuries (safely

and mindfully). In the last month I have had pain in

my right hip during practice but only in certain

asanas, lotus is fine but Marichyasana A right side much

pain, left side nothing, Utthita Parsvakonasana right

side pain and Virabhadrasana. Any asana almost where

the knee and the hip are flexed straight

forward.<br>Any insights?<br>Since it has started I have worked

gently with moving in and out of the asanas and playing

my edge, but I am not sure if I am working an

opening (doesn't feel like it), or if it is an

injury.<br><br>Namaste

"but I am not sure if I am working an opening

(doesn't feel like it), or if it is an

injury."<br><br>Million rupee question! Is the pain I feel necessary, and

part of the process of openning, or is Mother Nature

trying to tell me I'm an arrogant rhino?<br><br>Well,

yes and no, and often maybe both (for

me).<br><br>Best I've come up with to deal with these pain koans:

since no exploration/movement at all can only lead to

regression, then the answer is to continue "going there" into

the hip, or wherever, with half of what hurts. Ahimsa

is the watchword here; heat, time, and the

unfathomable workings of joint karma seem to come into place

in due course.<br><br><br><br><br><br>O
