Guest guest
Thank you, T.I.U., for a balanced and wise reply to my message. I think your advice rings true for any student searching for a good teacher.

I did take a class at It's Yoga early in my practice and found the studio to have a "vibe" that didn't fit my search--it was more about the students it seemed to attract than the teacher, in that case, but of course the tone of a studio is largely due to the kind of teaching that occurs therein. It seemed to me a class of clashing egos and competition, which I try to avoid at all costs.
In any case, I appreciate your message.

On a side note, can you (or anyone) comment on the feet in Dhanurasana? A teacher I often take from tells me to keep the feet and knees together, with fingers clasped around the feet. This is extremely hard. Today, I took an Intro to 2nd Series workshop with Dennis Dean (whom I liked very much), and he did it with toes touching, ankles and knees apart. I checked my little David Swenson manual & Lino Miele's book (with a picture of Sharath, but it's from the side and I can't tell whether feet are together or apart)...David Swenson has it as feet, ankles and knees together--but I understand from Dean that Swenson learned Ashtanga many years ago and that certain postures have been amended by Jois since then. Anyone care to tell me? I will, of course, do it the easier way if that's okay, but prefer to learn it as it's intended to be. Thanks!
