Guest guest
Has anyone seen the Richard Freeman video of the Primary Series? How is it? How does it compare to the Swenson videos?
Guest guest
Hi, I haven't seen those videos but I have seen a video from Lino Miele and I realy liked it. Very well done and strong spirit. It has been taped in Kovalam in India january '99.
Speciality of that video is that Lino is actualy demonstrating primary serie with full vinyasa.

I wish smooth and strong pactise all of you

Tero
Guest guest
IMHO the Richard Freeman video is the very best primary series video I've seen (I have several). It is distinguished by Richard's description of the postures, he seems to hit on very interesting verbal ques to help you fully enter each posture ("Paste your heart on the ceiling", "Draw the legs up like you are pulling up long socks"...). He also conducts the series in a very even measured way, there is no rushing. If it has bad points for me they are that the action breaks twice during the series. As you transition to the sitting postures he stops for a while to describe the linking vinyasa and again around navasana I think he stops and gives some additional instruction. Also there is very limited guidance into savasna at the end.

I really like David Swenson's tape also, it is "More strenuous" than RF's video (5 Sun sal A's and 5 B's as opposed to RF's 3 of each) however there is less instruction and the instruction there is tends to the obvious (still useful of course since the obvious is easily missed). I don't think you can go wrong getting eoither of these two tapes, but if I had to choose I'd go with RF's.
Guest guest
I forgot to mention, the booklet with the RF tape is very good also, it has nice descriptions of mula b. and drishti and so forth.
