Guest guest
I was very interested in Edenlotus' comments about knee problems - a subject close to my heart. One of the things I'm she recommends is glucosamine, which I've also been considering so I've been doing a bit of research on it:

- there does seem to be a medical consensus that glucosamine is an effective and safe treatment for osteoarthritis. But I don't know whether the stresses many of us western yogis inflict on our knees are similar to osteoarthritis.

- if knee problems aren't disabling in your daily life outside asana practice, then is taking supplements purely to help the physical aspects of asana practice evidence of attachment to outward appearances, non-acceptance of the limits of your body? (to which my answer is yes, probably, but I'm going to do it anyway)

- any strict vegetarian/vegan yogis should be aware that glucosamine is an animal product derived from shellfish
Guest guest
I can attest to the benefits of a glucosamin/chondrotin mix. It has helped my knees to the point where I can now once again kneel on them without pain - also has helped load bearng exercises/activities.
