Guest guest Posted May 27, 2000 Report Share Posted May 27, 2000 One other thing occured to me that might contribute to wrist problems through astanga:<br><br>Using the fingers to raise the palms off the floor.<br><br>Sometimes beginners fall into this bad habit when attempting jump throughs, and also in utplatihi (raising upward from cross legged position in between navasana for example).<br><br>From what senior teachers have told me, and also from my own experience, the only safe position for jump throughs or any kind of uprooting with the hands is with the palms flat on the floor. <br><br>Trying to raise up with the fingers will lead to wrist problems or even broken digits.
