Guest guest
hallo to everyone out there...

i have a question about some really strange lower back pain which comes and disapears irregulary during my practice. the wired thing is that this "shooting nerve pain" just occurs in the right side of my body, close to the saccrum and that it hurts the most in uttasana and paschimottasana as well as in rotated triangle to the right. no pain in the janusirasana or marichyasana sequence.
did anybody experience something similar?
i'm practicing primary series for about a year on a regular 6-day basis. it just feels wired right now that all the sudden i have to bend my legs in all forward bends involving both legs.

thanks for every comment on this subject.
OM Shanti
Guest guest
Hi....Just a thought on your lower back pain. You many have a twisted sacrum which you are feeling when doing your forward bends. I have the same thing. There is no pain in the seated bends because you do them one leg at a time. You may be stretching one side more than the other and, if your hips are not perfectly square, you may be twisting your sacrum. I would back off the seated asanas and get some acupuncture.

Best of luck,
Yeshe
Guest guest
I am recovering from surgery (in december 2005) for removal of fibroids (10) and cervical cysts (the use of progesterone cream on my arms and dhea capsules resolved those in 2 months, but I had those for one and 1/2 years, and lost my entire practice of first and second series). I am attempting to return to first series practice, but have difficulty with lower back pain - my lumbar and sacrum locks up. I am continuing with physical therapy, acupuncture, meditation, pranayama, added Reiki, Qi Gong, I can do Surya Namaskar and standing postures and the 3 final seated postures and take an occasional Bikram class (heavily modified), but I would really prefer to get my Ashtanga practice back before I hit 50 (I'm 47). Any ideas? This is driving me bonkers.... sandra ashtanga yoga, gambir wrote: > i noticed that when i started i had a run of > stiffness/achng in my lower back. i think it was from poor form > than anything else; our instructor just told me to > keep a good abdominal lock with my sitting bones > tucked in. worked for me.
