Guest guest
They're good videos to have. I would probably recommend get one of the Pattabhi Jois tapes. The Solana Beach ones are good. I also like the Sarah Powers tape. None of the videos from that site are commercial productions. A guy just took a video camera into a class and did the best he could. So on one hand they're not polished and professional but on the other hand they show the real thing.

The Richard Freeman and David Swenson videos are well-produced instructional videos, where they demonstrate all the postures themselves and include lots of expanatory info. The Freeman tape includes a nice little book also.

The Yoga Works tapes are cool since they show Pattabhi Jois leading a group of top students (I think they are all teachers) through a session. So this is a good one to see proper form plus it has Pattabhi Jois' energy.

Keep in mind Pattabhi Jois doesn't speak much English. On any of the videos where he is leading the class, he is mainly just calling out the postures and counting the breaths.
Guest guest
Yes to what Mr. Slade says. I have the 1993 Yogaworks primary series and second series tapes where KPJ leads six senior teachers through the series. You can get them through the mail or internet on the Jivamukti website for, I think 29.95 ea. Sometimes Eddie Stern has copies and he sells them for less but you have to call him at his studio at 212-982-0753. Also, try calling Yoga Works in Santa Monica. They do not have a website, but they have a phone number and address listed on the Ashtanga.com website which you can get to from this club. I'm sure you can order directly from them and that is what I recommend! Also, the book Yoga Mala is very good to have. It is Pattabhi Jois' book on the primary series with pictures and lots of text about yoga. Good luck!
Trinka
