Guest guest
Can someone recommend a practice or a book about what to do with all this excess root chakra energy? I have been practicing for 15 months. A couple of months ago I began to feel, how should I say, a strong desire to reproduce after practice. I thought this would pass like aches and pains do, but it hasn't. I know I've read a book about moving energy or using it for spiritual means -- I think it was a Taoist text, but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help.

Guest guest
In Taoism one can find the t detailedand scientific approaches to dealing with sexual energy. Two books I recommend highly! Mantak Chia's "Cultivating Male Sexuality" (can be ordered at amazon.com:)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0943358191/o/qid=962892036/sr=\ 8-2/ref=aps _sr_b_1_2/002-3332299-5852004

and together with his wife he wrote "Cultivating Female Sexuality" - even better:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0935621059/o/qid=962892036/sr=\ 8-1/ref=aps _sr_b_1_1/002-3332299-5852004

probably some of the most complete references availlable! Guest guest
Hi, nicholas
I sometimes experience the same type of energy you described. For me, though, it mainly happens while practicing Navasana (boat) - this posture really seems to stimulate the first two energy centers, as you are balancing directly on the perineum.
Rudolph Ballentine offers some good advice for dealing with excess sexual energy in his book "Radical Healing". Basically, you just lie on your back, hold mula bandha, and focus on "inhaling up from the base of the spine," to help bump the energy up to higher chakras. Maybe you could try this during the first half of Savasana, to help you (and your energy) relax.
The strong work with the bandhas during Ashtanga practice is inevitably going to stimulate your lower energy centers. Don't be discouraged by your sexuality - it's a natural part of who you are. I think if you continue working diligently with the bandhas and breath, this energy can gradually be transformed into compassion, creativity and insight.

Amrita
