Guest guest Posted July 7, 2000 Report Share Posted July 7, 2000 Hi Lauren,<br><br>I'm not familiar with Yoga KC, but I just saw your posts and wanted to reassure you about taking your first ashtanga class.<br><br>I think you said that you were familiar with other yoga styles, and if that's the case, you should be fine. A few of the concepts (ujayi, bhandas) may be new, but they're easy to understand, even if you can't put them into practice right away. Just remember to pace yourself. If things are moving too quickly, just take a break when you feel the need, stay in mountain or staff pose, and breathe until you're ready to jump in again.<br><br>Also, if you introduce yourself to the teacher as new to ashtanga before class begins, they should be able to give you a little special attention to help you through your first class.
