Guest guest
I'm hoping to get some feedback on a current problem, which is really discouraging me, and making me feel like quitting practice altogether. I've been practicing for about a year and a half, and am experiencing my first injury--I've always been a really active person (dance, hiking, etc) and never had anything bother me. I guess I've been lucky. For the past month I've had a lot of pain in my left knee, on the outside, and it particularly flares coming out of padmasana. Now, getting into padmasana is extremely painful too. As I go through the primary series, I've been trying to avoid too much half lotus on that side, but of course notice that that whole side is tightening up in reponse. My teacher has told me to push it to the point of sharp pain, and then back off, but I'm a little nervous not knowing whether this will make it better or worse. I guess I'm just feeling discouraged, in discomfort, tight, and kind of wanting to throw the towel in! The practice is so challenging anyway that this makes it more like work than anything else. Anyone have some words of advice? I'd appreciate it.
