Guest guest
I have wondered about this myself (if I understand you correctly)--whether or not we should try to balance right and left sides by doing some kind of "remedial work." Most of the time I just think we will never be exactly the same on the left and right sides of our body--we'll always be a little asymmetrical. It's funny how an asana can feel so different on left and right sides. As far as I know, "remedial" work on a tighter side is generally not necessary or recommended (even though I've thought about it too!). With practice, the differences bewteen right and left sides may lessen, even if they don't disappear completely. It's more important to just be aware of the differences between left and right, and acknowledge them, not forcing one side to be more like the other.

About the tightness being related to usage, and a result of favoring right over left (or vice-versa) in daily life--definately that is my theory, too.

Sure, it could be a symbolic thing too, as was just mentioned.
