Guest guest
OK, it's been far too long for me to keep my mouth shut.

First, thank you javra for these insightful (inciteful?) words.

To be honest, I thought we had dealt with the topic of el Senor's remarks some time ago - I believe maybe new members hadn't seen earlier responses. Many of us, in fact, enjoy Senor's "refreshing" and antagonistic postings even if we don't agree with the words- hey, life isn't always warm and fuzzy.

Second, Senor, although your messages, as everyone's messages, are welcome on the board, don't you think that suddenly spitting out "down with the Birches" (when no one had been discussing them) was a bit akin to Turret's syndrome? You may want to focus your messages somehow, at least to be a bit more "productive" to the needs of the board.

Personally, I chuckled to myself that once again your inflammatory remarks set off another chain reaction of more inflammatory remarks - when all anyone can and should do is take whatever information is put before them (whether yours or another's), digest it, make his or her own opinion about it, and move on from there.

That's the nature of message boards, I believe. And, I think, the nature of yoga.

And, senor, I'm not sure there really should be an ashtanga police. I do see a need for us to point to beginners that there is indeed a method called ashtanga and that it has a well thought out design in the sequencing and breathing and form. I also do agree that if one is to claim that he or she is teaching ashtanga, that they really should be teaching ashtanga, rather than a variation. But to batter people with incessant deliberations about how other forms aren't "correct" or that people who teach variations (even if they don't call it ashtanga- and I'm not talking about the Benders who do claim they have learned from guruji and thus tend to be full of *&^*!!) should be hung up by their toes, isn't really a thoughtful addition to teaching people about the path to finding their own sense of fullness with the energy in the universe.

Yours in spirit,
Gabita
