Guest guest
I have been practicing Ashtanga for about 5 months now, both in Led Primary Series classes and on my own with the help of books and videos.

Right now, my typical practice consists of all of the standing asanas, about half of the primary series, and most of the finishing sequence; I know all of this by heart and I do it 4-5 times a week. I cannot yet do a full vinyasa or a headstand, but I feel I am making reasonable progress in my practice.

I'm hoping I can tap the collective experience of this group to answer this question: should I switch from Led Primary Series Classes to Mysore-Style classes at this point? I know that traditionally one studies Mysore-Style from the beginning, but somehow I have doubts about taking that plunge -- I feel I'm not ready. (I'm certainly not ready to go to India yet.)

Can anyone provide feedback on the comparison between the traditional Ashtanga teaching style and led classes? In which format did some of you start your learning? Or will I have to just take some Mysore-Style classes in order to decide for myself if I'm ready?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
