Guest guest
I just finished previewing the Lino Miele Primary Series with Full Vinyasa video and, even though I haven't digested everything yet, or noticed the subtleties, it's definitely a keeper. The quality of the asanas ranks up there with the Swenson and Freeman videos. There are no instructions about how to do the asanas or how to breath or how to anything. There are no instructions, period.Just sanskrit counting of the vinyasas and subtitles naming the poses and the drishti and lots of ujayi breathing.I write this just so people know what to expect, I was just fine with the absence of instruction. It is funny but the breath is not Lino's but has been superimposed on the original soundtrack. The breath is the same (pace, length.depth)no matter how hard or easy the pose Lino is doing and occasionally you get the opportunity to see the expansion/contraction of the breath in Lino's body not being synchronous to the soundtrack. Not to mention the fact that Lino is not miked.I know Lino is very close to PK Jois and I am guessing everything in the video has been OKed by him so I was (mildly) surprised to see Paschimottanasanas A,B,C,D and E! There's A to C in Yoga Mala, A to D in Lino's book and now A to E in Lino's video. There's also only one repetition of Urdvha Dhanurasana at the end, when I've seen PK Jois usually teach three reps, but again there's only one rep in Lino's book.I thought I knew what full vinyasa was about but I was surprised towards the end, when Lino did the finishing postures.Sarvangasana followed by chakrasana to Halasana and chakrasana to Karnapidasana and chakrasana to Urdvha Padmasana and so on for a total of 4096 mind boggling, disorienting chakrasanas. In a couple of sessions like that your chakrasanas will be vastly improved, I vouch for that. You get to see impressive stuff like Surya Namaskaras A with two handstands (one going in - Uttanasana to handstand to Chaturanga Dandasana and one going out Adho Mukhashvanasana to handstand to Uttanasana)and also Lino performs Nauli while in Kukkutasana, releasing Mula Bandha as per Yoga Mala.Anyway, it's a great video that does honor to Ashtanga yoga and PK Jois,it might even be good to practice to.A great presentation and excellent motivational tool because of the very high quality practice that it portrays, but not for beginners without discrimination or people without a teacher who need an instructional video. Guest guest
In Lino's book, with Sharath demonstrating, A is holding the big toes with index and middle fingers, B is like Pada Hastasana,C is like Pada Hastasana again only holding the sides of the feet and D is right hand holding the left wrist.A and B are the same in the video. In C Lino grabs hold of the sides of his feet but interlaces his fingers, palms facing towards his soles.D is the same.In E he reaches forward until the inside of his elbows almost reaches his toes, bends his arms at the elbow and, over his toes grabs with his palms his heels, his fingers on his achilles tendon. This is done mostly by releasing his shoulders very much forward. Guest guest
Lino's Italian, no? It's typical of Italian cinema to overdub all the dialog of a film after the fact, so the director can stand off-camera and shout at the actors while they're shooting. Maybe Lino had someone on the side yelling, "mula bandha! mula bandha!"

Guest guest
The breathing voice on Lino's video is his own, dubbed in a studio after the actual filming.

I am not sure if the video is approved by Pattabhi Jois or not. Could anyone attending in NY (or elsewhere) please ask him and post the answer here. Thanks.
