Guest guest
I'd also like to know more about those Tibetan rites.

I have a friend who's a Tibetan Buddhist (and who, incidentally, is starting to learn the Primary Series). He tells me that great teachers in that tradition are often referred to as yogis. I wonder if this physical practice is part of the reason? Guest guest
The tibetan rites were passed to us by a westerner Colonel Bradford who supposedly went to tibet in search of the fountain of youth. The llamas in a certain monastery taught him the technique. Many of the tibetan practices were performed by certain monks and were not taught publicly. The closest you can come to learning about tibetan yoga which involves controlling the breath is thru yantra yoga. Aparrently there is a film out there called the Tibetans? (part 2)which demonstrates tibetan monks from a certain sect performing some poses.
I have practiced the 5 rites for 2 years now (they only take about 10 min a day) as well as ashtanga for 4 years. Guest guest
The only thing I have found on this topic is a video tape called "Tibetan Energy Yoga with Lama Surya Das," but I have not seen it and, thus, cannot speak to its content.
