Guest guest
It's great to hear that you're interested. The only sound advice anybody should be giving you at this point is: if you can find a good teacher then try it out. You really can't learn yoga from books or tapes.

(No disrespect intended to all the people who've written into this group struggling to learn in places where they don't have teachers)

There are useful lists of teachers at:

http://www.ashtanga.com/html/classes.html
http://www.transarc.com/~jle/yoga.html
http://www.yoga.co.uk/list.html (Britain)

The people marked on the first list as *certified* are some of the most highly qualified senior teachers. If you're lucky enough to live near one of them - bingo! But that doesn't necessarily mean a non-certified teacher isn't as good - there are plenty of others who are also excellent.

If you tell us where you live somebody might be able to give you a personal recommendation, which has to be better than just picking a stranger's name from a list. Guest guest
YogaSport is the best Ashtanga studio I know of in PA (I use to live there). Dee Silvers is an advanced student of Manju Jois, and is an incredible teacher. Manju spends several months each year teaching at the studio.
