Guest guest
There is also an awesome video of the Mahabharata, from Peter Brook's stage version. Three tapes, six hours, magnificent.

Guest guest
I agree, that Peter Brooks' production of the Mahabharata is really great! Way exceeded my expectations.

Buck's RAMAYANA is a pretty good abridged version, though I wish someone would write a more complete rendering (in something besides the Indian-English prose of the other translations).

I own a couple of translations of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Interesting reading. Much there about "conquering death" with physical practices; whether this has a metaphorical or literal intent I've no idea. In any event, I refuse to swallow dhotis or cut my phrenum with a razor blade in order to roll back my tongue properly -- just ain't worth it to me.

Theos Bernard's HATHA YOGA is a good buy, as it compares several yoga sutras and the personal experience of a yogi (Bernard . . . what ever happened to him btw?) in trying out the recommended techniques.
