Guest guest
It is funny this is on the board because last night at dinner after Sharath's amazing demo - where, I might add, he placed his ADAM'S APPLE on the floor in Kapotasana... we had this same conversation. What I learned is that another reason to rest 3-4 days during menses has to do with the internal heat. My friend who said this has loads of experience and was told this by Guruji. I don't really know the specific things that extra heat in the area will do, but it can't be great. I can say that last month when I did a full second series practice during my period I contracted the WORST cramps I have had in several years right in sivasana. The severe cramping lasted several hours. I was blown away. I also remember having eeky practices during other months - getting light headed between standing poses, etc. Mostly, ashtanga has lifted my reaction to physical discomfort and I have very even experiences every month, but I will certainly take those days of rest from now on.

Does this women's rest mean like moon days or is it OK to do suryas/padmasana kind of thing?

Trinka
