Guest guest
Truth be told El Senor, I tend to ignore the mass market depictings of yogis and it went right over my head. In fact, at the ad agency I work, they think a yogi is someone who sits in lotus constantly and meditates. However, I was inspired just by reading about Mysore. I don't have your personal experience of having been there so I wouldn't be able to know that Nagarata was yet another thief and villian. Also, please jog your memory and try to recall way back when when you were a yoga newbie fresh off the boat. We all have to make a first trip.

However, I do see your point about the journalist missing the devotion, discipline and transformation the practice brings. For that she should be drawn and quartered.

ishogun
Guest guest
Senor,
I couldn't agree more about the article. Really missed the mark. What's up with the 'mostly upper middle class' doing ashtanga? Why, even if it were true is that even an issue? And what part of what series are people 'flipping around on the ground like capsized turtles'? I found that one particularly fantastic. Where did she get THAT information? I wonder though, did Guruji give permission for this article? Was he contacted for final approval? Just wondering.

However, Re. DS, I did not say CHARMING. I said VERY COOL. I know bravado when I see it.

Trinks
Guest guest
Actually, I will take the liberty senor has standardized and retract my former comment about the article. I am thinking that If Guruji didn't like the contents of it it wouldn't have been published.

I belive the desire for others to undertand and embrace my practice with the same fervor I do is sort of akin to pasting Jesus fish all over the back of a car or bumberstickers saying 'save yourself with Jesus'. There is a big difference spiritually and philisophically between attraction and promotion.

I only hope that there will be room on the floor in Mysore. Guest guest
I doubt Guruji's approval was necessary for publication. It strikes me that the New Yorker wouldn't give their subject the right to edit the article.
