Guest guest
as may be clear from following the messages posted here what you practice is no gaurantee of what you get. maybe its more important how you practice. maybe its a combination of what you practice and how you practice. maybe you need to mix the constraints of your karma in there too. many deep healings may well have occured through this or that approach to yoga. many have obvioulsy not. those of us lucky enough to have known and studied with derek ireland would hesitate to overstate the therapeutic claims some adhere to the practice of ashtangavinyasayoga. but, was his dying of cancer in the prime of his life after many years of dedicated practice and commitment to studying annualy with his guru, an indication of error or bad karma? i think not. Guest guest
I was just browsing your Godfrey's new book, and it looks like a very satisfying read.

For something that is called 15 minute Yoga, it was surprisingly good.Especially the parts of the book not devoted to asanas were invaluable. It provided a very strong foundation for the practice of the asanas.

The book is on Amazon, it's not an Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga book and it is dedicated to Derek Ireland. Guest guest
Perhaps Derek Ireland would have died of cancer sooner if he hadn't practiced yoga; perhaps yoga prolonged a life that could have been a great deal shorter without it. I don't know how karma enters into it, but if biology is indeed destiny, then can yoga give us a degree of control over sickness and death? (Or does one need to be able to stop one's heartbeat first?) Can yoga allow us to change our destiny? Should we believe in destiny at all? Stop me if this all sounds idiotic. I'm still just a beginner and I was never a brilliant student, despite the BA in (Western) philosophy.
