Guest guest
The New Yorker article was written by a woman who spent two weeks in Mysore and stopped by the beginnning of the workshop in NY for additional interviews. Although permission was not required by Guruji, he was kind enough to cooperate and to answer her questions in a sincere and thoughtful manner. Unfortunately, the journalist, was so attached to her New Yorker/People Magazine angle on the story that she totally missed the point of Guruji's wisdom. While he no doubt presented her with the truth, she fixated on Calvin Klein underwear, a photo of Gwyneth and other things that resonated within her own conciousness: exploitation, hustling and cynicism.

So the world gets a two-week perspective from an exploitive and opportunistic parasite and is cheated from getting any kind of insight into Guruji's wise and loving being.

As for the other's on this board that critcized you, there is a polictical correctness here that is rather sickening. Ashtanga is not about feeling good and joining hands with your neighbors and singing "free to be you and me"--in spanish-- wearing Birchenstocks, long flowing tie died skirts while swilling herbal tea.

Diluting the practice with "modifications", accepting teaching from charlatans and those who are unqualified because they have not mastered the basics, allowing mendacious and exploitive so-called teachers with their low-quality books and videotapes to water down and pollute the practice might be expedient for lazy or inexperienced students and profitable for the teachers, but does nothing to preserve the Ashtanga method for future generations and insults the teaching of our Guru.

sorry for the long sentence.

El Senor Pinche Wey
