Guest guest
The sacred science and art of yoga has, for centuries, been the domain of one specific caste of people...Brahmanas, raised with an elite knowledge of scripture and philosophy, and not shared with those beyond the pale of this upbringing. Contemporary American yoga is often reduced to pablum for digestability by "the masses" and, as a result, has suffered the same reduction to a common denominator as the American legal system, educational system and general media.
Offered in evidence... weekend certification programs for "fitness instructors" wishing to become overnight yoga teachers.... Tantra... reduced to sex games for the rich and bored...
so-called yogis and yoginis fracturing every Yama and Niyama in their transparent efforts at self-promotion.
The Shastras tell us that violence that results in Karmic damage ceasing, is a neutral act and carries no stain of Karma. Perhaps following the advice of the ancient texts is the wisest path after all.
Asana abyasa is important, no doubt, but sometimes it is useful to study something else as well.
