Guest guest
Dear Senor--You remind me of middle school, of the oh-so-important divisions that adolescents create between who's cool and who's not. You remind me of the religion I was raised in--only those who believed in their Jesus and believed in him their specific way were saved. You remind me of the potheads and trippers I hung out with instead of going to church. They too were the only ones to see the light--the only ones to "get it." And so on. There are countless people who think they (or their way) hold(s) a monopoly on the right way to be.

And unfortunately enough, you remind me a bit of my current yoga practice. Although I wish it were not so, I am not immune to the pull of righteousness; I have been known to cop a holier-than-thou attitude about my yoga. Your posts often exemplify these sentiments. While I generally find them distasteful, they have been valuable too, because they reflect something subtle and, to me, counterproductive that exists in my practice. I have extricated myself from multiple dogmas on purpose; I'd rather not wrap myself up in another one. Thank you senor for drawing my attention to little ways that I was doing just that. Guest guest
I, too, would be honored to raise my Kapala with you ESPW!
I grow weary of all this absurd "walking on eggshells" in the name of political correctness. Yoga collapses in our country and everyone runs around with artificial smiles on their faces so as not to insult or step on "someone's" toes... or appear "negative"....Ridiculous! Your opinions are honest and refreshing and it is clear that unlike almost everyone else, you are not out to win some imagined Yoga popularity contest.
You seem to have traveled to India to study... an act of dedication in itself (not to mention the conditions for yoga practice, in India, that these air conditioned babies cannot imagine!) While I applaud your efforts, I know that the yoga community at large will not admit that any of the things that you so rightly point out, are happening. There are, I believe, two reasons for this... first, it is an unpopular stance in the new agey time we subsist in and any strong opinion is regarded as suspect...... second , many instructors and students with influence have money making agendas and freeze at the prospect of rocking their precious financial boat with controversial subject matter. Consequently, all too many classes are "food milled" to a common paste so that no one is offended and the instructor might as well be from "Stepford"!
Thank you ESPW, for being real!
