In T. K. V. Desikachar's book, _Health, Healing

and Beyond : The Living Tradition of Krishnamacharya_

there seems to be careful attention payed to any

documentation of Krishnamacharya’s life. There are many

references to an autobiography that was started late in his

life, and photosessions of Krishnamacharya

demonstrating the practice, but nothing about any films that

were made. That is not to say that film does not

exist, only that it is surprising that there is no

mention of it in the book.

As a teenager my first

brush with Krishnamacharya was in a tattered old

_Ripley’s Believe It Or Not_ paperback book dated from

1948, in it was an account and a drawing of an indian

yogi who could stop his heart. Desikachar makes

mention of this demonstration in his book saying that it

was attended by English doctors who verified the

phenomenon. It would make sense that in putting on any sort

of demonstration for western audiences that some

sort of film record would exist.
