Guest guest
You make some excellent points and I really realte to your frustration with discovering things later in life rather than earlier when perhaps they would come a bit more easily. I started martial later than most and had to work hard to make up the difference and the same goes for astanga. Though I feel I've been able to bridge that distance fairly quickly as well.

Another question I have is how do people find the time or ability to get to Mysorewith the commitments and responsabilities of a full-time job? Do people quit? Take an extended leave of absence? This is something that weighs heavily on me because I definately would like to get to Mysore and study astanga as it was meant to be studied. Any light on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Namaste,

ishogun
Guest guest
Re the earth thing... I am almost pure water and air. Some would say gas. Or fumes. Others would say sewage; my mind is nearly always in the gutter. Some would say I am a gentle rain on the fields of.... OK, enough. I work towards earth. This board is fun and sometimes informative. I absolutely love that so many people who are absolutely, certifiably and unequivocally CRAZY do yoga.

Thanks to a regular and consistent (against my Vata nature) Ashtanga yoga practice, I am closer to fine now and can almost see the stage.

FBL
Guest guest
you probably know this already but they say if you are devoid of an element you can lack it or totally have mastered it.
I know someone else who lacks earth and i would have thought they ARE earth.

I relate to that vata problem. I'm fine until there is strong wind outside. It reduces me to a whimper. Being inside is not enough - i have to be away from hearing it. Even not feeling it but with wind just being a prevailing condition like the santa anas, - it's hell. But thunder and lightning - ooh baby. Sleep snuggest during a nasty rainstorm when the heavens are in uproar.
Guest guest
Friends. (I hope so.) It's clear to me now that I was too hard on you - you don't deserve that. Sorry for putting up a show. Besides, I don't think that it was you who insulted El Senor. It was someone else.

End of the dreadful "waste" thread, once and for all, OK? (I beg you on my knees...)
