Guest guest
Thank you. I realize hips are your thing. Shoulder's mine. Would you recommend any (albiet "illegal") prep poses for opening shoulders? Any input would be appreciated.
B
Guest guest
With pleasure madame (add french accent).
Sitting on floor, knees bent and lie back with basketball / sockerball ( maybe a little air let out) below upper back. Reach overhead with both arms and bring both hands to floor walking them to grasp the ball and work the elbows to the floor. This will work upper back and shoulders. Excellent for lower back injuries to open the upper back and take some bending out of lower back.

Also prasarita dandasana (an inversion)against wall using a well aligned headstand as base. To determine distance from wall do dandasana with feet on wall, then set up headstand app where buttocks were(leg's distance from wall) (This pose may be for more seasoned students)and variations (both feet on wall strait legs /one foot down on floor -a type backbend in headstand / both feet on floor/ push up in full backbend and using wall jump over to beginning. Balasana ..Maybe i should add not to try this without a teacher if you are new, scared ,injury prone, overly hurried or foolish(just kidding).(consult your doctor, don't try this at home, etc)
