Guest guest
people were being duped. Rather study with baba hari dass at the mount madonna center or someone
who doesn't pretend that it is a teacher certification.

Duped by the words "Sivananda teacher certification"...: (Some came as a fitness person branching out to yoga and needing a certificate, some used all their savings with the hopes of a career change.)I did acknowledge that this course offer a foundation in philosophy (which includes kriyas). That you had already been living there and benefited from this i respect. I respect the essence of vedanta etc. This is not what this conversation is about though. YOU were not duped. If they made the terms clear to others and didn't pretend it as a certification to teach....hey that would be totally different. ok with that?
.
The philosophy is a good foundation - but is someone after that foundation capable
of teaching this philosophy? The B.Gita itself is so complex and layered and concentrated ... It is a beautiful intro though. But an INTRO only. Some agreement yet?

We agree that the asana is way beginner level - I think headstand as the very first
pose is downright dangerous for beginners but forget that. So the asana instruction does not prepare you to teach either. It may not even equate to half of 1st series. So where is the teacher training yet?

Then there is the part where they say "register for the training-if you don't want to stay you can switch to a regular guest"... only to say that once people want to switch that they cannot. Fraud yet?

They do not make the circumstance available ahead of time (in this instance that the average attendance is 150 people and that yoga is done on cement outside).

What those, who had thought they could teach and earn some money, found out is that if you teach this Siv Yoga at a Siv Centre you do not get paid.

It gets worse- people are stuck there for a month -the washer and dryers operated on double or more of the cost of such services in hotels nevermind the local laundromat. ($5 for one cycle of wash & dry).

So far the dishonesty and profiteering attitude is a disgrace in my opinion - but you may not be satisfied. I just want others to have this knowledge so they can make an informed choice - tha tway they might even enjoy it.

Point is if they presented the whole thing honestly and with integrity do you think as
many people would register? Can you say this is not an attitude of profiteering and trickery?

Now coming back to this website and chatclub -isn't it too good too be true, BUT IT IS TRUE, that those certified in ashtanga are world class ashtangis and teachers. Only a handful of them exist. Certification on this website refers to a standard so high......it is rare , what more can i say. That is what i meant not to dilute the meaning of certification to us by mentioning a an intro that parades as a certification. The purpose of that title is to make money. I am glad you enjoyed your experience .

chamoya
