Need feedback on Beryl Birch Workshop

I am

thinking of taking a Beryl Birch Power Yoga weekend

workshop at a yoga studio in PA in December. Has anyone

taken this type of course? I do like the Power Yoga

book, and I have no beefs with the Birches. I go to an

occasional class in my newighborhood, but it is more of a

Kripalu style.
I would like feedback if anyone has

any. No comments from Mr Way, please.

I have been to several workshops with the

Birches. One was about 4 yrs. ago and I had just started

practicing so I found it educational. If you don't normally

practice Ashtanga this may be the case for you. However, I

went to another one with them just recently and felt

that I didn't learn much from the practice part of the

workshop. But they usually spend a few hours in a kind of

Q&A session and some interesting questions came up.

Hearing their view, as well as the other students' views

gave me some good food for thought and hit on a few of

the things I am struggling with at the moment (most

of which have also been very insightfully discussed

in this forum)

I have since sworn off those

weekend workshops as there are typically too many people

to get any individual attention and a 1.5 hr. class

with a good local teacher can be more educational than

an entire (expensive) weekend workshop. The one

exception I will make is for Richard Freeman. After I

attended one of his workshops (several yrs. ago) I felt

that everything else had been a waste of time.

However, it probably depends a lot on where you are in

your practice.

Good luck,
Ruth
