Guest guest
The last really good article I read in YJ was their bit on yoga of the Mysore palace...I forget how many years ago that was.

The last really good yoga book I read was "Yogi Bare" (I believe that was the title), the compilation of excellent, revealing interviews with various yoga teachers.

I wish more yoga publications were like the above ...give us more technical information, more honest interviews with challenging questions and useful sharing of experience. We've had enough pablum and hero worship of the same-ol-same-ol yoga icons to last us forever.

I think this forum is far more useful than any issue of YJ i've ever read. Probably because no one is selling anything here.
Guest guest
Have any of you come across Yoga International the publication of the Himalayan Institute of Honsdale Penn. as founded by Swami Rama. That mag is rather deeper than Yoga Journal more of a Rishikesh viewpoint than California. Or if you like a buddhist angle try Tricycle or for a general discuss Andrew Cohen's "What Is Enlightenment" from Moksha foundation (check on web) though all of these are not into describing asanas (YI does)

Yoga Journal has faults for sure but it is kind of fun and book reviews are good, some features and so on.....most of the posters seem to be pretty media savvy and you have to understand that magazines like that are always going back to basics for "newbies"
In the end the magazine won't do your practise for you but it is nice with a cup of tea while waiting for the toast to pop up afterwards.
