Guest guest
Sticky mats are o.k., actually walls are o.k. too. Sharath says so and he even props people up agasinst the wall who are having a tough time with headstands. All other props (blocks, blankets, (all restraining devices--doc, i know you love these) should be avoided like the plague.

Glad you take El Senor's jabs with the (dark) humor and hyperbole with which it is intended. I know that you meant no harm in your suggestions and for other activities such as pilates, or other non-spiritual types of work-outs, your advice might be sound; for astanga yoga, it requires a little different mind set. Being a doctor, you probably approach the practice with a scientist's rationalality, analysis and criticism. I too had that tendency in the past. Part of the beauty of the practice is to allow it to just happen and unfold, (cliche alert:) like a lotus flower.

FOr a day or two, leave the scientific, rational doc at home, give into some of the folk lore, mysticism and magic of practice and see what happens.

Best wishes,
EL SENOR
