Guest guest
it has to be a hard thing for most instructors in the US to deal with. my wife regularly complains that she wishes the instructors at the various classes we go to would be more "hands-on". some will make minor changes in foot position or hip angle but in-close, body stabilizing adjustment is not real common. most give verbal directions on what change needs to be made. they have to consider the spectre of litigation over perceived inappropriate behavior or for injury. it's kind of a no winner for them. one person's threshold for what is inappropriate is likely very different from someone elses. they probably have to adopt a "lowest common denominator" approach and minimize their contact.<br>my wife's concern about adjustment by guruji was not his touching her inappropriately. she was worried about injury. his technique, compared to any other teacher i have seen is definitely "old-school". most, including sharath, will gradually extend you into a position, using your body's resistance and your demeanor as feed back for how deep to go.
