namaste-
I take one Mysore a week, because

that's all that is available, (would take more if I

could-you folks at Eddie Stern are lucky! Only Mysore!), 2

led primary classes, & one pre-ashtanga.(lots of hip

openers & second series work) I usually do 2-3 series at

home in addition, and lots of extra sun salutes. (I

don't think you can do too many of them)
I

personally think it is important to stick with one teacher,

but practice non-attachment to him/her. My teacher

often does retreats, so I get lots of amazing teachers

he has trained through the years, many fresh from

India. They can often see your body with fresh eyes, and

that can be a good thing. I don't believe in yoga

school hopping, but you have to do that in the begining

to see what school works for you. I trust the

lineage of my school and have never been injured, despite

playing the edge all the time. The Iyengar teachers there

in particular have helped me a lot with my

allignment, thus improving my ashtanga practice.

Just

curious-to all you booze drinkers. Do you skip practice when

you are hung over, or are you troopers? Dosen't it

destroy your practice? I can't imagine combining the two.

Seems rather counter productive. Booze is SO toxic.

Practise gets rid of a hangover - but your sweat

reeks of whatever you consumed the night before! Red

wine mixed with gal sweat stinks.

And yer

right, alcohol IS toxic.... but remember too much purity

is also toxic. And I've had my most entertaining and

hysterical moments when mashed.

Hi Lh....
Booze is SO toxic, you wrote. I

absolutely agree. Nice family-dinner with bottle of red can

destroy my practise the next day. I dont believe in

practising when being hangoverish. Maybe it has to do with

my age also, liver isnt what it used to

be.
Interesting and strange enough, after I started ashtanga, my

hangovers have been different, the physical reactions of my

body have changed, in a way that I dont have the

talent to describe.
