Okay, I am admitting some consumerism here, but I

just got a Champion juicer and have been (with my

two-year old's help--major mess) juicing everything in

sight. Anyone (esp you raw foodists) have good recipes

for juices? Especially ones for energy? Or good Web

sites? Any suggestions/recipes welcomed. Thanks!

yes- yes, that was kind of my next question-

Anyone have a home made version of that naked juice

(think that was the brand) "green machine" drink ?

Goal : to make something that is very green and full

of veggies but tastes like

fruit

thanks!

PS Bodysings, if you're out there, could you tell me

how long it took you to feel those effects of your

vegan diet? gracias

Don't have any really exciting recipes. My

favorite juice is just carrot with one apple thrown in. I

sometimes add a little bit of ginger. And sometimes some

beet, not much, about a fourth
of a beet. Haven't

been in the habit of celery for some reason but I just

got some after seeing it mentioned here (organic was

the same price as regular) and will start throwing

that in. I sometimes cram a few spinach leaves in. And

sometimes a garlic clove or two (the juice may be less fun

but more medicinal). I use an Acme. We switched to a

Champion in the health food restaurant I used to work in

since you don't have to empty and clean it after each

juice. Back when I had a Champion and an Acme I used the

Champion when I wanted to make watermelon juice. Watch

out,
its sweet. Also, I used to experiment with raw foods

and I used the Champion to make essene bread. I don't

remember the details but after soaking wheat for a day or

two, I would run it
through the Champion to make

the dough. Then just spread it out on a pan in the

sun or in an oven at low temp - REAL BREAD - just

like in the bible days.

Norman Walker's book is

the bible of juices. Actually he has several books. I

think he lived to almost 100 and drank juice

everyday.

And don't ever reach under the juicer to see if the

screen is on. I almost took off part of a finger once.

(the screen wasn't in) They poked holes through my

nail to put the stitches in.

And a tip about

wheatgrass juice - you don't need a juicer. Just chew a wad

and the juice explodes into your mouth. Not sure if a

Champion will do grass anyway. I used a manual wheatgrass

juicer until I discovered that chewing the grass was

much easier.

I used to make juice that was mostly carrot, a

few leaves of kale, and just a little bit of parsley.

(this straight off of the juiceman

infomercials--remember?). I dont know if it tastes like green machine, but

it's so good first thing in the morning.

I've found that fresh ginger provides quite an

energy boost, and is especially good in morning juices.

I toss a pretty hefty chunk into the Champion

(about 1/2 golf ball size) per 12-16 ounces of juice. It

puts a wicked "twang" on the juice too that really

opens ones eyes. Here's an energy concoction good for

the morning:

3 apples
1 stick celery
2

large carrots
dollop of fresh ginger
handfull of

english walnuts
one cup french roast coffee (just

kidding)
