Does anyone have trouble with the skin around

your big toes? Mine gets macerated, then becomes as

tough as, well, nails (toe nails), mostly from rolling

over them from upward dog to downward. Any advice

would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, B

I am constantly tearing up the skin on my big

toes due to mat friction. The cure that I have found

is going to get a professional pedeicure...

something they do by buffing off the old skin keeps my toes

nice for a couple of months till I tear them up again.

Plus, having nice manicured toes is a pleasent sight

during practice when your dristi takes you there.

I also find that pedicures (or, at the very least

constantly filing) lets you fly through the jump backs

without fear of shredding your wrists (I received a

slight laceration yesterday - promptly brought out the

nail filer after practice). I've also partially ripped

off my big toenail (not too painful believe it or

not) jumping through one morning without much grace-

the pedicure helped that too for some reason. I've

noticed yogis/ yoginis with bandaged toes to keep skin

and nails from flying off. Athletic tape would be the

best to use.

Bandawoman,

Unfortunately I have no advice for you but I can at least

offer empathy. My big toes are hard as nails as well but mine I believe stem

back to my martial art days.

ishogun

Look after your feet - pamper them - rub Palmers

vitamin e and coco butter balm into them every night. And

paint your toenails alternating pretty colours topped

with holographic glitter.

Well, it works for

me!
