Guest guest
Goodbye all.

I am so saddened and disgusted by the alleged behaviour of Jois( in regards to his molesting of female students ) that I am embarresed that I ever aspired to be an Astangi Yogi.

BBB has only been slandered by one individual, but this conversation about Jois has come up again and again on this bulleting board.

So I think I will practice Power Yoga for physical fitness / strenght / flexiblity. And have to try and follow my own path for how to live my life.

I always knew that the concept of a Guru was flawed. Just as stupid as taking what the bible or Koran says unconditionally.

I don't know what it means to follow my own path. But I am determined to find out. Because it is simplistic and irresponsible to follow somebody else's.

Maybe I'll see some of you at a power yoga workshop.

Liz

Guest guest
Liz, Sorry to hear this. Trying not to seem like I need to talk you out of your decision, let me just remind you that you don't have to throw the baby out with the bath water. You could give up any assocation with Jois, but still keep doing Ashtanga. Ashtanga is a lot bigger than just Jois and there are a lot of very good Ashtanga teachers out there. Guest guest
Having not heard of these allegations, could some one directly involved (or indirectly) please tell of there experiance. I can say that on occasion while making adjustments i've accidenly made contact to "personal" areas of the body (both mens and womens) And have had it happen to me as well, no big deal. It goes with the territory. It seems that this is also a much bigger issue in the US. When i was doing a teacher training there it was considered a serious matter (due to fear of lawsuit) While living now in Europe i really don't think about it and belive that's how it should be, accidents happen and the difference between gropping and an accidental slip of the hand should be obvious in a less paranoid atmosphere.

Anyway lets not send Pattabhi to the chair without a fair trial
Guest guest
I don't think anyone wants to hash this all out again. It's been painful, most especially for those directly involved. You can read about it if you go search back in the messages titled things like "(Such)day in Carlsbad" and "Not for the Faint of heart." And make your own judgments.
