Guest guest
I´ve heard from students who study with BNS Iyengar that he will be visiting England in January and February. After having studied with Pattabhi in Spring I will go back to Mysore in November to study with Iyengar because he is a lot less expensive (he takes about a 5th of what Pattabhi is asking for means I can stay a lot longer in India)and you can actually understand his English pretty well. Very charismatic guy also looks like he is in his early fifties eventhough he is already 75 years old.

His yogashala is less inviting because it´s kind of cold. There a several rooms one main hall with only natives Indians practising, female and males are seperated (for the most part) so he is walking from room to room to adjust but he is very intuitive about showing up at the right time. His first series is a little different but since I haven´t practised with him I don´t know for sure. It´s much more for people with self-discipline. He doesn´t have holidays like Pattabhi only New and Full Moons he won´t teach. Classes start at 6a.m. He also teaches Pranayama in the afternoon something that Pattabhi wouldn´t agree on. There are not wild about each other. Pattabhi doesn´t talk too good about BKS Iyengar either he does like Desikachar though.Oh, we are all so human even Pattabhi!
As for Iyengar he is very much a Philsopher, very talented to express himself in English. Pattabhi isn´t but I love Pattabhi anyway. Very different characters I think you should have studied with both but hope Iyengar will never be as crowded.
Pattabhi yogashala is kind of posh, lot´s of beautiful people crammed in one room. Kind of competitive but great energy. Iyengar is for people who don´t like to feel rushed by other students to wait to get in. Also if I would feel like doing asanas of the second/third series I would have a much easier time to do it but his adjustments are of course not nearly as good, he is only one and he has a lot more students at a time.
