Guest guest
When I began experiencing the healing transformation of Ashtanga Yoga practice sixteen years ago I was working in the big business arena. I drank socially and ate meat.

Gradually, and I emphasize gradually, certain habits and friends began to fall away to support my new interests. I practiced six days a week, usually at 5:00 in the morning so I could be at work by 8:00. I would find myself sitting at a typewriter with my palms facing the heavens praying for deliverence from my present lifestyle.

Eventually, about four years passed, I found new work that fed my soul and I incorporated the old aspects of my pre-yoga life with the new. Some friends fell away because I no longer wanted to drink alcohol. I don't think that's a bad thing, it just didn't interest me anymore.

Go slow. As Pattabhi Jois said when we visited last week, "slow growing is good growing." Don't rush through your practice and don't rush the changes. Changes will come. Of this I am certain.

It is important to be IN the world with our yoga. We touch many more people by bringing our practice to our families and communities; living our yoga practice.

May this bring you peace and may you feel the support and understanding you deserve.
