Guest guest
I have just returned from three weeks' holiday and find I have nearly 1000 postings to read through. (I hate to miss any - am I unusual or are the rest of you starting to get addicted to this yogic soap opera? - When it stops me practising I'll start to get worried ...).

Now to the point: Alan mentions Gwendoline Hunt who still practises in her seventies. I seem to remember - way back when I spent all my time reading books about yoga - that Patanjali (I think) distinguishes three "ages of man": youth, when emphasis should be on asanas, middle age when pranayama begins to become more important and old age when asanas take a back seat - just for bodily maintenance - and meditation is the main focus.

Does this mean we should gradually ease up on the practice as we age (I am 50 next year so I hope this question is still reasonably premature) and spend more time on meditation? What do you veterans do? What does guruji do in the way of practice?

My apologies if there has already been a deep discussion on this point in posts 1882 to 2700. I haven't had time to read them yet!

Dave
