Guest guest Posted September 12, 2000 Report Share Posted September 12, 2000 An Iyengar teacher told me that backbends work to stimulate the adrenal glands and are energizing (though I'm always pooped after the repetitions). I happen to love them, probably because I'm kind of top-heavy and there is nothing better for opening the chest. After several weeks of backing off due to my shoulder injury, I did my first one this am during practice with a friend on my roofdeck, and it felt wonderful, expansive, was glad to have been able to do it after so long.
