An Iyengar teacher told me that backbends work to

stimulate the adrenal glands and are energizing (though I'm

always pooped after the repetitions). I happen to love

them, probably because I'm kind of top-heavy and there

is nothing better for opening the chest. After

several weeks of backing off due to my shoulder injury, I

did my first one this am during practice with a

friend on my roofdeck, and it felt wonderful, expansive,

was glad to have been able to do it after so long. I

wish you loads of backbending enjoyment.
