Guest guest
I'm still having trouble getting my feet through when jumping back into chatauri. They always drag, not so much that I can't do it, but enough to be bothersome. Any tips would be appreciated. I try to suck my knees into my chest as much as possible, keep my shoulders lifted and swing forward and then back. I think I need about a 1/4 inch to make it. Guest guest
This may be a bit of a cheat, but when I was first learning jump-backs I got the extra rear-end lift by bending the arms slightly as I was jumping back. This causes the upper body to go forward and down, so the lower body comes up (kinda like a seesaw). Keep on bending the arms and you will lower into chaturanga dandasana as your feet go back. For a moment during this procedure there will be more weight on your fingers than on your palms, 'cause of the upper body leaning forward, so press `em extra hard.

Hope this helps. 1/4 inch doesn't sound like much.

Peace,
Homer

Guest guest
I agree with lhill11 -- the only way to clear the space is by using the bandhas and the breath and making sure that your palms are flat! In my case, I found that once I had trained myself to continue breathing slowly through the jump back, I was able to do it.

I also found that I had to take the time to go through the seated postures with a vinyasa between each side. This necessitated going to Mysore classes as the teachers at the studio I go to regularly skip this vinyasa and simply have the students switch sides. The more I did the jump backs the better I got at them -- which, of course, only makes sense.

P.S. to lhill11, are you going to the Miele workshop next week at Moksha Yoga? Guest guest
I am going to be at the Mysore classes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I'm not from Chicago, but while on business trips there I have taken classes with Darren @ Moksha and I'm very much looking forward to getting back there.

Do you practice at Moksha and, if so, do you know if construction has been completed on the second studio? When my wife was there recently she said it was a mess!
Guest guest
namaste shambhala_us-
I'll be in Mysore Tues, Wed, Fri & Sun. I don't attend Moksha. When I paid for my workshop a month ago, they weren't finished with the second studio yet, but they told me it would be finished in time for Lino.
I take Mysore at NU & Priya.
