"Urine therapy" refers to any method for maintaining of improving health characterized by the external or internal application of an individual's urine to that individual. Guest guest
people claim it works wonders. yes. it must. that's why our body eliminates it. i knew people did this but dismissed it as quackery. after your post i realized that some people, even rational ones, will try just about anything. i looked it up and was surprised to find so much on it. maybe it's the new "thing". good site to check out:
http://skepdic.com/urine.html
Guest guest
yeah there is a lot of info on it.

I've met a few people who have tried amaroli. Many people drink it regularly. It's supposed to be good for fighting infections (it may contain antibodies).

I guess it's not really a new practice, but just receiving more attention now. Guest guest
My favourite saying at the mo is "personally, I'd rather drink my own urine."

I think you can guess whether I'm for or against this.
Guest guest
only a moron would consider ingesting his own waste.

ESPW
Guest guest
senor,
surprisingly, on many things we agree. none more so than this. the body works hard to excrete. to re-ingest that same waste is not what i would consider rational. i think moronic is pretty accurate. what next, poo poo facials? Guest guest
It is fact that all people start to drink their own urine daily as soon as they have the capacity and at least for the the first 9 months after conception (the liquid inside the womb consists largely of the foetus' urine). I have seen footage of the foetus' taking big gulps of it, the narration explained that this somehow is viatally important for the proper development of digestive and immune systems of the organism. -

I aggree - ALL people are morons. Guest guest
Amaroli......a good friend of mine Koen van Der Koon authored a book called "The Golden Fountain" all about Urine Therapy. He introduced or rather peaked my interest in this in India some four years ago, at the time he was attending a conference there on the subject. At that time it seemed a lot of people were into "pee drinking" and also using it for other treatments. Some examples where it has been helpful for myself and friends are with excema, spots, hay fever, diahorrhea, common cold, cuts and grazes.
In the internal uses one of the points Koens makes and I tend to agree is that the urine works ae a prophylactic in that it gives the body a reading of what is going on and then the immune system acts on that information.

I read Godfrey's postings and quite agree with what he wrote. As a contraceptive I would steer clear as the consequences of being wrong there are rather major. Still in the history of contraception there have been some wild things that claims have been made for......

I no longer practice amaroli and have found no difference in my health, however I would fall back on it as a nature cure when needed, it's always there. I fear most people have a strong conditioning about bodily functions (especially their own) from basic potty training. The funny thing with Amaroli is that after the first glorious moment of taboo breaking and the occassional delight in shocking people in conversation it is just a thing that you do.....if you drink enough water, eat vegetarian and not too heavily spiced, don't drink booze or smoke then your urine tastes of very little and is clear in colour......if you brush your teeth or mouthwash straight after there is no lingering taste. So if you are interested just try it, experiment for a month see if it is for you.......I practised for just over a year and it never did any harm. Guest guest
You practiced amaroli for a year. Did you notice definite results in your health from this practice? Would you say these results were dramatic and definitely due to the practice?
Guest guest
<<I practised for just over a
year and it never did any harm.>>

hmmmm, not the most resounding of endorsements. i don't know why this topic stirs me to object so much. i shouldn't really care one way or the other. i'm curious though...what was it that caused you to choose to break that taboo? what was it that caused you to stop the practice?

in terms of healthy uses of urine, i did remember one the other day. it came from one of the stories from vietnam pow's--can't remember if it was the guy who ran for president or if it was one of the others--doesn't matter. in the fetid conditions in which the men lived as pow's, just about any cut would become infected--a potentially life threatening situation in those conditions. this person developed a significant infection in a cut or a wound. since the water they were given was not clean, he would use his urine to wash the wound. he let maggots clean away the dead tissue and recovered well
Guest guest
Another healthy use of urine - told to me by Derek Ireland at the Practice Place in Crete - is as a remedy for sea urchin stings. If you find sea urchin spines in your feet or hands, urinating on them makes it possible to remove them very easily. It works because I had some - there are lots around in the bay. Derek recommended Baddha Konasana as the ideal posture if you need to pee on the soles of your feet ...
Guest guest
Just a week ago or so, on Ophrah, there was one of those super dooper army survival-in-any-condition type guys and they were asking him questions about survival skills. He did say that the maggot thing was an accepted survival skill and he did say that urine drinking was most definitely not a survival skill.
