Guest guest
I've been meaning to post on this for awhile. I read about Godfrey Devereux's new book, 15-Minute Yoga - Yoga for a Busy World, on this forum a ways back and ordered it right away. I've been getting tons of yoga books lately and this has been my favorite one. It is not strictly an Ashtanga book and it is aimed at beginners but it is a really cool book for anyone practicing yoga. Its about 200 pages and about half of it lays out the 15-minute routines, each consisting of just a few postures. This part may not be of interest to most Ashtanga practicioners. But the rest of the book is full of detailed and general information on yoga practice presented very clearly. It wouldn't take long to read it but much of it is worth reading over and over. This book is very inspiring and has helped me with some difficult questions. His previous book, Dynamic Yoga, is a deeper study of asana practice. It is one of the best books on Ashtanga yoga, although not strictly an Ashtanga manual. He also has an older book called Elements of Yoga. I didn't get around to looking at it for awhile, since I figured it was "superceded" by Dynamic Yoga. I finally started reading it and this is a totally different book. Rather than a practice manual, it is a general overview of the whole subject of yoga, which is good to have, since yoga is a vast and sometimes confusing subject. Anyway, I highly recommend all of Godfrey's books and wanted to specifically call attention to the new book. All of his books are available from Amazon.com if you don't find them in stores. (Thanks for the books, Godfrey, and thanks for hanging out here too).
