not to push one of my tangents too far, but some

of the best meals we have had have been where order

a good red and a good white and drink both. you

just go by feel and drink what you want when you want.

never seen a wine rule that made practical senseanyway,

except that no wine goes very well with

chocolate.
re: kiran, my beautiful wife--my vision's not that

bad, and my sense of touch will hopefully never get

that bad, unless i get leprosy or something

"Both" is good philosophy in many instances,

no?

Champagne goes tres bien avec chocolate. IMHO. And in

general I prefer reds, and am more picky about the

quality of the white. It's easier to be lenient with the

reds, I've found. Why is this?

I know it's a

tangent, but such a nice one!

you say tomato... i'm sort of the opposite. it's

so easy to find excellent cabernets and pinot's

these days. i have degenerated to the point where i

would rather not have any wine at all than drink the

average house red. it's harder to find a standout white.

many whites are limp clones with no character. i don't

expect much but when i find a good one, we tend to empty

the shelf of the store. my personal fav though is

champagne. my wife doesn't like it too much so we don't

drink it too often, easy to open a bottle of a cab and

drink a glass or two and svae the rest for later. with

champagne, it's now or never. sorry for lack of proofing,

i've gotta run, babies are booming

I wonder if my taste will ever be sophisticated.

There are a few BC reds that taste just fine and don't

cost too much. But I agree about the whites. The few

times I've had one I liked, it shocked the Shiva outa

me because most of them I can do without.
