Guest guest
that was my second mountaineering book. it is such a compelling story. "i can't believe someone could do that" type stuff. his book probably led me to pursue the genre more so than krakauer's. they are both very good writers. simpson has more than 9 lives. unfortunately he's used up his knees with all of his harrowing falls. after reading the book, you almost feel more sorry for simon, the guy who cut the rope. i've read simpson's other books as well. he doesn't shy away from his opinions of modern guided "tourist" mountaineering. but i noticed once in the ad section of one of the climbing rags that he was a guide for 'led' climbs as well. gotta eat i guess
