Guest guest
I think good general advice is to take first 2-3 days off - then reintroduce inverted postures slowly - ie reduced number of breaths - say 5 per pose on day four and increasing to 8 on day 5 etc.
Guest guest
I rarely have a day 5, though.

I think Lisa is right--no two people or periods are alike, but the first day is usually the most important day to take off completely. I usually feel weak and crappy anyway. A long baddha konasana or supta baddha konasana can be therapeutic, like gorakshadevi mentioned.

So:

Some women take 3 days off entirely.

Some take off day one, then practice everything but backbend and inversions on subsequent days.

Some introduce the inversions gradually as the flow tapers, while some practice the full series immediately after the days off/limited practice days.

Do women who practice according to tradition (Moon days and Saturdays off) take off several days in a row if the period happens to fall next to one of these days? Or do they make concessions to avoid so many days off in a row?
Guest guest
I don't have a day 5 either, but my concession day is Sat. since I hate to be off practice for more than 3 days. When I start back I go for all of whatever series (including inversions) is appropriate for that day of the week. I guess it's a pretty individual thing. The absolutely traditional thing to do is take several days off.
