Guest guest
It really depends what part of the Bay Area you are in. People in this group have some strong opinions about different places teaching Ashtanga Yoga. In general two places that come highly recommended are Yoga Shala in San Francisco and The Yoga Studio in Mill Valley. A good link to look at is:

http://www.ashtanga.com/html/classes.html#norcal

Personall\ y, I attend the majority of my classes at a studio some in this group consider run by a Yoga criminal. However, I did not know of this before attending -- it is very convenient to work and I enjoy the people there. Also, my practice that would put some into a tizzy anyway -- mixing Iyenger, Ashtanga (as taught at the Ashtanga Institute in Santa Cruz), but the majority of my practice the primary sequence as described by Guruji in Yoga Mala as well as in other books.

I guess the point is, what is best may depend on individual factors -- location, etc.

Namaste,
-jim
Guest guest
In SF, Alice Joanou at Ahimsa Yoga and John Robb at Yoga Shala are both excellent teachers. If you're in SF I recommend you check them both out.

http://www.ahimsayoga.net/
http://www.yogashala.com/
